What a Scene應該是在說這社會上，你看到的一切都是表面而已，但它有多荒繆？直到你心能獨立思考之後，才看得出來。
主唱John Rzeznik十五歲時父母雙亡，在他心中留下無法抹滅的傷痛 (從他的面相就可以看得出來)。這首歌應該是他從十五歲開始，開始要獨立生存、思考時對週圍社會的解讀，整首歌聽起來有點憤世嫉俗，而且不太和諧是正常的。
